While the township continues to investigate, discussion at last week’s Council meeting once again involved Mount Construction’s continued presence on Gravelly Hollow Road.
Since the Aug. 25 meeting, the township has begun investigating the Berlin-based construction company’s presence at the site after several citizens – most hailing from the Pine Pointe neighborhood – complained that the construction equipment at the site produces an inordinate amount of noise and that damage has been done to their houses because of the vibration from the trucks and equipment.
Residents were also concerned that the size of the company’s trucks that travel back and forth on Gravely Hollow and Jackson Roads are too big for the roads to handle and also pose a safety concern for residents traveling on the road simultaneously.
Since the Aug. 25 meeting, Mayor Dave Brown said township officials met privately with the group of concerned residents in order to construct a list of their concerns and to begin an investigation into the issue.
Brown said that Council would meet privately with the residents again in the next week or so to continue discussion.
At the meeting, Brown and township officials noted that they were looking into the agreement, but they continued to tell residents that they had nothing but good intentions when entering into an agreement with Mount.

  1. Investigate? Says:

    Investigate?? What a joke!

They are investigating themselves? And now we find out that a councilman is making loans to the contractor.

Something smells in Medford, it smells like corruption.

I really wish every time an election comes up the politicians would stop looking for anything and everything to make their opponent look bad. I’m not into politics, don’t care for it at all but it’s really disappointing to see all the media attention things like this get.

Look at Mount Construction’s record for quality of work, all the charitable things they do, donate to local and national charities, help youth athletic programs, families in need etc. They do a lot more than most businesses around here… and especially more than all the mudslingers trying to take the focus off themselves… really sad.

It’s amazing what election time can do, eh folks? Things that weren’t an issue all of a sudden are a big deal. I guess if I went around asking enough people, does clean air bother you? Does clean air bother you? They would eventually say, yeah, you know what? Clean air bothers me, let’s go after anyone who supports clean air.

This exactly what happened here.. Mount Construction came in and beautified what was a pit basically before.. added fencing, trees, shrubs, a side entrance and more… now all of a sudden, it’s an issue.

Mount Construction does a lot for Medford, donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to charitable organizations and tries to help and give back to the community.

Now all of a sudden, because of a few ambitious politicians Mount is made to look like it’s doing something underhanded. It’s really a shame when people just sit back and tolerate this type of stuff. Stand up and demand to know what these people have done for the community.. what have they done to give back to anyone for that matter.

The old saying about glass houses seems to come to mind…

Bernie Madoff made substantial contributions to various charities as well. While I am not a politician and have no agenda other than living free of tyrannical control. I find the facts regarding this whole mess disturbing to say the least. There remains a significant amount of information being kept from the public. Not the least of which is why the two additional lots on the other side of Gravelly Hollow Road are being used by Mount Construction, and why were they not included in the Townships Pinelands Application. The Web Site you should be looking at is Google Earth. the Photo’s there do not lie.
